New CC fee legislation

As of 5th April 2013, new rules came into force regarding credit card booking fees under The Consumer Rights (Payments Surcharge) Regulations 2013. This will allow retailers to charge customers a reasonable amount that reflects the true cost of processing a debit or credit card payment.

Travelodge currently charge customers a £2 fee for all credit card and Paypal transactions. This fee is a valid reflection of the actual costs incurred by Travelodge as a result of processing these types of payments and as a result we pass this onto you the consumer as a credit card fee.

For debit card payments there is currently no charge applied to these types of transactions.
